Here's a surprise release. Landon is a barrel-chested blues shouter from the Southern States whose impassioned gospel-blues style is utterly authentic and demonstrates yet again that white men CAN sing the blues. He recorded this album in Britain with musos like Dave Markee and Henry Spinetti who long-in-tooth blues devotees will remember used to propel Eric Clapton to blues heaven. The result is magnificent, particularly on the smouldering title track and the cover of that wonderful Rev Dan Smith song "I've Never Been To Seminary". Only when Landon strays away from the blues is the effect dissipated. Landon may not be a big name but on the strength of this release he's a big talent.

This Landon Spradlin CD is awesome! It just put gospel music in a whole new category for me. I think this should be reproduced and marketed again, really. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Spradline in person recently (11/2007), and he sounds just as great in person! By the way, my 4 year old neice took possession of my CD, and I had a very hard time getting it back. She loves it too!

Excellent music, and a true worship experience.
