Reviewed by Tony May Beautiful set of traditional Hungarian folk music, with emphasis on hymns and Christmas songs. The group's line up is Beata Salamon (vocals, violin, synthesizer), Istvan Beran (Jew's harp, bagpipes, shepherd's pipe, viola, vocals, bombarde), Zsolt Nagy (viola, vocals, violin, bass, drum), Albert Mohacsy (bass, vocals, cello, cobsa) plus some guests on even more exotic and wonderful instruments. The result is sure to send you reeling, or whatever other jig seems appropriate. Some lovely gentle tracks here, too. "Maria, Maria" has a beautiful, flowing vocal leading to a dynamic violin solo. "Little Jesus", "Came The Happiness", "A Star In The Sky" and "Bethlehem" are further exhilarating tracks from this authentic, captivating group, who offer a fascinating glimpse into the way that a very different culture celebrates the nativity. Try this refreshing music as an unusual Christmas treat.
