In 2009, Cross Rhythms published a review of the original release of this recording by a Ugandan singer now based in Cincinnati. Sadly, this new expanded edition does not redeem the fatal flaw of that first release. The pop, reggae-lite and gospel-tinged tracks are still let down by Lule's decidedly wobbly vocals. I'm afraid he simply cannot hold a tune sufficiently well for public performance. His website claims that the Lord called him to music ministry at the age of 11. However, that simply reminds me of the story told by the Christian playwright Murray Watts, who would be presented with poems which the authors said 'The Lord had given' to them. Unfortunately, those who made the greatest claims about the Lord giving tended to produce the art of the least skill. Watts took - rather cruelly, perhaps - to tearing up the poems and quoting Job: "The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, blessèd be the name of the Lord." With great regret I fear that is what is true here: this recording is best avoided.
