Singer/songwriter Peter Case is a Greenbelt favourite and a bit of a veteran. "Full Service No Waiting' is his sixth solo album and he has generally swapped the platinum talented session men of previous recordings in favour of a rootsy band augmented by an occasional LA talent. Apparently influenced by a tour of America playing in a tribute to Merle Haggard, he plays the acoustic, folk and blues styles that have pervaded his previous work and adopts the role of observer of all things American. Case's current music is, to steal the title of his biggest American hit with his former band the Plimsouls, "A Million Miles Away" from the early '80s when he first established a cult following. Standouts to these ears are "Green Blanket" with its understated violin and "Honey Child" where Case really finds his voice. Definitive Peter Case! "Let Me Fall" has a powerfully rootsy flavour based round Case's rhythmic guitar, some great harmonica and his raw vocals. "Crooked Mile" is just Case, guitar and a brief telling of the story of his life. I love it! Throughout, his gutsy vocal style and plaintive sweet'n'sour lyrics are sheer poetry.
