Ireland produces some of the toughest rock gospel bands... Moral Support, Split Level and now S.O.S. Just get a load of the opening cut. A lead guitar, loud enough to rattle your teeth, a drummer who really kicks and a lyric which is strongly evangelistic while never resorting to 'Calvary/ died for me cliche. By the time the axe solo arrives and the BV's chant out to fade this listener is hooked. The vocals are a bit nasal and thin on some tracks and the band seem to absorb influences like blotting paper Dire Straits, folk rock, and the obvious U2. But there's such a fresh, joyous thrust to the whole thing that this makes it as one of the best rock gospel custom cassettes the underfinanced Brit scene has produced for years. So come gig on the Mainland guys.
