Yesterday's underground is today's mainstream and here's another brash, anarchic new album launching itself (in theory at least) into the polite Christian subculture. Scatered-Few are four apocalyptic prophets from California in weird haircuts who use hardcore, grunge, thrash and sheer wax-cleared-from-ears bedlam to do battle against the forces of unrighteousness. Standout cuts are "Scapegoat" ("Swaggart, Baker, Jones/Yaweh puppets storming the throne/Telling lies with I's from high"), "Glass God (No Freedom In Basing)" and the opening pumping grunge opus "Kill The Sarx". The lyrics are sometimes hard to understand above the howling vortex of sound and just as hard to understand even when read on the inlay, but this exciting set is never less than exciting, nimbly produced by DA's Terry Taylor, and will keep this listener returning to it long after many safer musical offerings have been forgotten.
