Creationists might feel the title was not the wisest of choices but there's little else you can fault about the quality of contemporary worship offered here on this studio album.. Tremendous new songs, some of which I guarantee you'll be hearing in our churches in the coming months, fine performances from Tim Hughes, Onehundredhours, Vicky Beeching, Andy Flannagan, Andy Pressdee and Jon Bilbrough. Production too is top rate, so that played loud your whole front room/bedroom can reverberate with the multi-layered textures of state of the art recording. Top songs? Well, I'd point to "Yesterday Today And Forever" and "Consuming Fire" while the great new pop rock version of MercyMe's "I Can Only Imagine" beautifully sung by Tim Hughes will surely be heard a lot on Cross Rhythms radio in the months to come, keeping the haunting appeal of the classic "musings on Heaven" words yet giving it a more contemporary treatment than the rather insp radio original. All in all, 'Evolution' is further proof that Spring Harvest worship is still creatively evolving.
