16 live worship songs from Spring Harvest recorded at Minehead and Skegness. First off kudos to producer Paul Burton and his recording team for getting such a clear quality sound from live performances. These songs are relatively new, most written since 2010, and some I suspect are destined to become well-known anthems, if not already owning that status. Chris McClarney does a wonderful job on Housefires' "Good Good Father", perfect for a live worship experience, while my favourite track is Matt Maher's "Lord I Need You" ably performed here by Nick Herbert - what a heartfelt chorus! Most songs are quite strong and powerful as suits the live venues but there are quiet moments also, as when Cathy Burton sings her own beautiful song "Highway To The Heavens" or when Lou Fellingham leads "I Believe", a confident song of faith - "I believe that you are God/When all around gives way." Sometimes you forget this is a live album and sometimes you're in no doubt, whether it be the worship leader's exhortations or the audience participation - as with the opening track' "Lion And The Lamb" sung by Ben Cantelon. This is a quality release but it still needs something a little different to make it stand out from the hundreds of similar live worship sets out there.
