The annual live worship release emanating from Britain's long-standing event brings all the excitement and ambience you'd expect from a world renowned worship event boasting some of the country's most prolific Christian singer-songwriters. Featuring seventeen songs spanning several decades, there's something for everyone in this album. Pete James's gritty voice delivers conventional renditions of Bethel's "You Are Good" and Redman's "10,000 Reasons" adding in a couple of self-penned numbers, while Geraldine Latty tackles the world's most favourite hymn "Amazing Grace" and "Come On My Soul", the latter sounding somewhat weak compared with the Rend Collective Experiment original. Cathy Burton's two tracks are a pleasant boost (although these studio recordings feel a little out of place on a live album), but unsurprisingly the pinnacle of the disc is Vicky Beeching's input. Her classic "Yesterday, Today And Forever" is as potent as ever while her new song "Death Is Beaten" features a dazzling melody. Elsewhere though there are too many make weights and though a nice memento for the Spring Harvest 2012 attendees, this album lacks the musical edge I anticipated.
