"Often, albums headed 'new songs' are a bit of a misnomer, containing worship favourites that many churches have been singing for months!" This is what Tom Lennie said in a review in issue 80. For the album he was reviewing it was not the case, sadly for this one it is. Of course there are some good songs on this album such as "God Of Wonders" and the excellent "Majesty (Here I Am)". The newest song on this album is a new Graham Kendrick offering based on Psalm 148. What really turned me off this album was the rewrite of "O The Deep, Deep Love Of Jesus". Apparently this has been around since 2002, but this was a "new version" to me. The power has been sapped out of a very hard-hitting hymn! This album feels as though it has been put together simply because Spring Harvest do one every year! Having said that production values by Trevor Michael and Dave Lynch are high while the vocals by Esther Alexander, Simon Parkin, John Perry and Mal Pope are highly professional. For listening pleasure there are many better and more inspired worship albums available.
