If you've read CR's recent rundown of the Spring Harvest Praise Mix albums and the interview with the producer of this project, Mark Edwards, you'll know this will be much more then simply bad segues of cobbled together choruses. Neither is it just a contemporary dance interpretation of Spring Harvest worship. This is far more innovative. The tracks explore a wide swathe of dance jazz and gospel styles. There are elements shared with experimental jazz, particularly groups like The Future Sound Of Jazz, which uses sampling and jazz riffs and beats to great effect. Worship and contemporary styles create an exciting synergy in an album that grooves from start to finish. Highlights are "Frantik" performed by World Wide Message Tribe and songs sung by Ken Riley, Matt Redman and Eils. Already a hit on Cross Rhythms radio, this finely produced set brings the sound of today to the worship arena. Dance and experimental jazz fans ought to explore this album.
