Reviewed by Ian Hayter Another great production from the excellent Andy Harsant. Here are 10 songs by the likes of Becky Drake, John Hardwick and Simon Parry, arranged for pre-school kids and performed with enthusiasm by Cathy Burton and Jim Bailey on vocals, Dan Wheeler on guitars and the aforementioned Mr Harsant on everything else. The opening song, "Have Fun" certainly sets the scene, and nine other songs with titles such as "God, You're So Cool" and "All Singing Child" give the young listeners plenty to jump about to. As always with these Spring Harvest albums for young children, the songs are at just the right level, with simple words, catchy tunes and (mainly) jaunty rhythms, without being in any way patronising. There are a couple of slower songs, notably "May God's Blessing Be Upon You Now", and the closing "When You Are Sleeping" is clearly intended for listening rather than participation. It might have been good to include some children's voices here and there, but, other than that, this is a good album to let the little darlings sing along to - and there's a full set of backing tracks included as well.
