2019 marked the incredible 40th Anniversary of this UK annual event taking place in three locations around the country during Easter. Music has always been a major part of the celebration, often showcasing artists of the time ("After Hours"), and worship leaders in their daily celebrations. This is followed by the follow up album release as a reminder of the event. This year's 12 track collection named after its theme, is referring to the power of prayer. Amongst the leaders to be heard are Elim Sound (Harrogate), Lou Fellingham (Skegness), and Andy Smith (Minehead). I have often felt, listening to similar releases, that it is difficult to capture the feeling of an event although it is fair to say that every attempt appears to have been made to address this, the congregation can be clearly heard and the enthusiasm felt. Nevertheless, the album is going to be appreciated more by those who attended rather than the casual listener. There are however, some great moments to be enjoyed, the opener "Raise A Hallelujah" led by Kees and Reni Kraayenoord at Minehead certainly sets the scene with the constant rousing call to 'sing a little louder!' and the genre fluid "Our God Is For Us" (Lou Fellingham) mixing hints of calypso with Coldplay is very engaging. Not all the songs stand out so well but it is certainly worth investigating.
