The Gibsons proclaim themselves as "God's all original Southern rock band" and this 2008 release sees the Tennessee outfit set out with the aim of shining God's light into the darkness whilst bringing back American pride and "that Southern way of life." Chief writers Jerry Gibson and his son and lead guitarist Shane certainly don't pull any punches when it comes to proclaiming God's righteousness and songs such as "Dependence Road" and "Dead And Gone" deal with the thorny issues of addiction and false gods respectively whilst promoting the one true God's greatness. Elsewhere, proceedings continue in this forthright vein with "So It Seems" which claims that America's descent into perversion has made sacrifices by US servicemen and ultimately Christ worthless. Whilst the writing and indeed Jerry's vocals - reminiscent of a toned down Axl Rose - are of a fair standard, this release is hampered by production that makes the album sound as though it's been recorded from the next room. All the instruments played, and all the mixing, mastering and engineering were performed by 13 year old Shane Paul Gibson, a very impressive feat. I understand a band has now been formed so we could be hearing more from The Gibsons.
