The description on the front sleeve is "A collection of cherished songs and hymns, gently and lovingly re-worked to breathe new life into inspired lyrics" and the fact that this deft and gently soothing album achieves this so ably is a credit to Preston-based Tim and producer Chris Eaton. Veteran Tim has a melodious and gentle voice while the piano-dominated arrangements are delightfully understated so that the inspiring lyrics of Charles Gabriel ("I Stand Amazed"), Stuart Hine ("How Great Thou Art") and Philip Bliss ("Man Of Sorrows") really hit home. The gems on this set are Helen Howarth Lemmel's "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus", which starts with Tim's acappella voice before some glorious male harmony comes in, and the Sunday school favourite "Jesus Loves Me" given a mellow, jazz-tinged feel. With top quality design and packaging this is an excellent album, way above the standards of so many meditative-style sets released by the big Christian record companies. If you're looking for music to soothe your soul, look no further.
