If we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but princilapities and powers in high places, why should I waste my time wrestling with the foolish things of the earth?
My roomate recently told me he needs me to be sharp because iron sharpens iron. And that he's busy working out his own souls salvation, as the Scriptures advise us to do. I could hear that cartoon sound effect go BOINGGGGGG, after that reaction. That was after me trying to start a conversation about the stockmarket corruption going on here in the states. But I eventually inderstood that, " you know, he's right". Next time before I try to talk with a brother or sister in the Lord about a hot controversial subject in current events, I will need to have something substantial having to do with what we as Christians need to be MOST focussed on regardless of the secular subject at hand we nevertheless seem to be subject to regardless of faith or acedemia. It's tough sometimes to not be OF the world while we aren't able to leave the world as Christians. Paul the Apostle said, "those who seemed to be somewhat were of no benefit to me". And he also said, "a soldier who wars does not entangle himself with the affairs of the world". There's a line we are able to cross as long it's with moderation; we can vote. We can picket. We can promote causes. And we can boycot. But to live outside of the 9 fruit of the Spirit as a result of an affair of this world, we are steeping over the wrong bounderies. It's taken me 20 years to finally figure that out because there are so many baffoons with the ability to talk, who actually have no more sense than a gnat. Anyway, great job on covering all your bases.

Hi Paul, this is a very interesting and thought provoking article.

Personally though, I think that most of these scripture v. science arguments are just an absolute waste of peoples' time, whichever side they are on, or if they sit in the middle.

Us Christians would make better use of that time actively witnessing to the truth that is Jesus, and the pro science lobby could use it to learn more about their truth, whatever (or whoever!) that eventually proves itself to be!

As a member of the Bahaí Faith I believe that science and religion should go hand in hand. You don't need to put God into a mathematical equation, it doesn't make any difference to whether it is God's creation.Science is about material things and religion is about spiritual things.Religious teachings which contradict science are sheer superstition.

With a 2000 character limit on comments I was unable to fully express my thought. (even though I was trying to be brief!)

I have made a response on my website

Pauls a good Christian soldier, and seems to have found himself in the thick of the battle again. I think his idea to keep our eyes on our leader is good advice. Like a great sea the tide seems to come in and go out on many seemingly enlightened thoughts. Sometimes as it goes out it reveals things we hadnt realised were there before. Equally when it comes in no fabricated structure can stand against it. Me i just love Jesus and try to do the same to my fellow man. I leave Jesus to building His church, which he promised he would, and the gates of hell wont prevail against it. As soldiers we have our part in the battle, but im reminded that going Over the Top can sometimes unnecessarily waist a lot of lives. Best maybe to seek a high vantage point ,and clear directions, before chargeing head long ,like some modern day light brigade. Its been said before in the 60s man stood on the moon. 2 thousand years before,God stood on earth. These days men look for life on other planets, but God still looks for faith on earth.

Another good one, Paul.

I guess part of the problem is that many aspects of science and religion are hard to reconcile with each other. As with the Necker Cube illusion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necker_cube), it's hard to hold both views in one's head at the same time, because there are many apparent incompatibilities. I guess that explains why so few people have read both The Bible and The God Delusion. The two "warring" paradigms exist within one's own mind, and—as with the Necker Cube—it's hard not to come down on one side or the other.

Thanks for the thought-provoking article.
