According to the study, more than one in three children underwent domestic upheaval, such as parental break-up, by the age of eleven. In addition, more than one in five children whose parents split up, experienced emotional or behavioural problems. | |

| Most doctors in Britain are still against legalising assisted suicide, a major new survey of nearly 9,000 doctors has found. Close to two thirds (62.5 per cent) of members of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) agreed that a change in the law is unnecessary, while 37.5 per cent disagreed, according to the survey. When asked what the RCP’s position on assisted suicide should be, fewer than one in four (24.6 per cent) said ‘in favour’ and 44 per cent said ‘opposed’, in this year’s survey. | |

The memories of those mice that received the injections were said to function four times 'better' than sibling mice that had not received human cells. | Polygamy is a major issue in Islamic communities in the UK a report published this week suggests. The study, which was prepared by Muslim women's rights group Aurat and carries a foreword by Baroness Cox, also highlights the vulnerability of many Muslim women. Of the 50 women surveyed, 46 reported being 'married' but only around 10% of those were marriages recognised by English law, and so subject to English legal protections. | |

| New analysis suggests that churches and other places of worship are the most effective institutions in society in bringing together people of different races and social classes. The finding is based on a survey of 4,300 adults by the Social Integration Commission whose chair, Matthew Taylor, commented, "perhaps contrary to perceived wisdom, activities such as attending a place of worship or a sporting event can bring people from all sorts of backgrounds together." | |

| The private prosecution of a doctor accused of offering 'gender-abortion' has been committed to the Crown Court. A pre-trial review will take place in January. It is a significant development in the case brought by Aisling Hubert and supported by the Christian Legal Centre, after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) last year refused to bring a prosecution. However, the CPS has been asked to takeover the case and drop it. | |

| Many big supermarkets have reacted to the challenge issued by MPs and the Church of England to help tackle food poverty by helping to give away their surplus food. The All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Hunger in the UK, which is backed by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, warned that the nation's food industry wastes 4.3 million tonnes of food every year. The actions come after the Trussell Trust reported that it has seen the number of its food banks rocket from 40,898 outlets in 2009/10 to 913,138 in 2013/2014. | |
