A recent NOP Automotive survey found that 7% of motorists check their tyres only once a year, 13% make checks only when on a long journey and 15% of women never check their tyres at all. The figures are worrying as 6% of all fatal motorway accidents are caused by the sudden failure of under-inflated tyres, and worn tyres contribute to 10% of accidents in wet conditions.
