The hymns are certainly classics but the recording is not - incredibly low levels ensure that you hear more noise than music and an unfortunate lack of originality and creative insight means that Jonathan's voice is not given the vehicle it deserves to best display his pleasing baritone tones! Jonathan Veira has an impressive track record - having sung at Glyndebourne and Covent Garden and BBC radio and television appearances and on this recording he wraps his vocal chords around hymns like "Rock of Ages", "How Great Thou Art", and "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross"! Accompanied by some rather pedestrian and predictable organ playing he's never really given the opportunity to shine as he undoubtedly can and will do in the days to come.
