The growth of Adelaide's Planetshakers to its position as "Australia's premier Christian youth conference" has been commented on already in Cross Rhythms. And back in CR78 we reviewed the Planetshakers studio album 'Open Up The Gates', gave it a whacking nine squares and put three songs, "Open Up The Gates", "Rescue Me" and "All I Want Is You" onto the CR radio playlist. As it turned out that excellent album remained unreleased in the UK which is a bit ironic considering this live set, featuring several of the songs on 'Open Up The Gates' isn't in the same league. It's okay as far as it goes and worship leaders Russell and Sam Evans do an okay job but still sounds formulaic with one friend describing it as "Hillsongs with more electric guitars." If you enjoy the Hillsongs 'United' albums you might enjoy this. But this set is decidedly dull compared with the bite of a Soul Survivor live album.
