Here's further proof that at its best acappella singing is as powerful and exciting as any musical form on the planet. And it's pretty near its best here, though to be honest, the cream of the crop has to be the secular counterparts such as The Trench Coats, The Blenders or The Diners. Or Take 6 of course, on the jazz side of things. But I digress. Acappella tackle here the great, timeless hymns of the church, of the "All Hail The Power " and "Holy, Holy, Holy" ilk. In that, it's similar to Glad's recent project, but whereas those notables specialise in attempting clinical perfection, Acappella inject more fire into their style and a beefiness which increases the accessibility for the average listener. Spicy stuff, proving again that the human voice is the most flexible, expressive instrument.
