If 'Spirituals 2' tries to evoke a mood of black church, 'Traditional' tries, again reasonably successfully, to convey a mood of white washed churches and well scrubbed white harmony groups running through the gems from turn of the century hymnals. And there are some song gems here, Albert Brumley's joyful "Heaven's Gonna Shine" and the traditional "Give Me Light". But the title/concept Tradition' ceases to have any meaning when one notes that some of the songs, like Gary Paxton's "He Was There All The Time" are from the 70s. Still throughout Keith Lancaster and his buddies perform polished Southern gospel style harmonies.
